DEBRA REED, President

Debra Reed is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. Ms. Reed works at D.C. Public Schools as a Specialist in the Youth Engagement Division. She serves as a field practicum instructor in the School of Social Work for Howard University, Catholic University and University of Alabama. Ms. Reed joined the Reid Temple Restoration Center, Inc. Board of Directors in February of 2017.

Ms. Reed has over 20 years of diversified clinical social work practice offering psychotherapy, supervision, training and consultation. Her areas of expertise include childhood trauma, grief and loss, and domestic violence. Ms. Reed’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Education and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Howard University.


Sylvia Pauling, M.A., LPC, is a licensed professional counselor who has been an activist and advocate in the movement to end domestic violence for over twenty years. Ms. Pauling is the President/CEO of The Pauling Institute Inc. in Washington, D.C. , where she maintains a private practice; her areas of expertise are domestic violence, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), grief and family therapy. She is also the Domestic Violence Specialist at the District of Columbia, Child and Family Services Agency (CFSA).

Ms. Pauling is a Certified Danger Assessor and a DC Victim Assistance Academy Graduate. Ms. Pauling received her B.S. Degree in Psychology from South Carolina State University, M.A. Degree in Guidance and Counseling from Trinity College.


Ms. Sonja Wiggins is an administrative professional with over 20 years of experience in the non-profit association field specializing in membership and governance affairs. She was appointed to the Reid Temple Restoration Center Board of Directors in February of 2017. She has been a member of Reid Temple African Methodist Episcopal Church since 2015. Ms. Wiggins holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland University College and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.


Ms. Regina Shumate is a human resources professional with over 20 years of experience in various areas of human resources management including; labor and employee relations, recruitment, benefits administration, and training and development. She was appointed to the Reid Temple Restoration Center, Inc. Board of Directors in December of 2014, and has served as a mentor to middle school and high school students, and a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for Prince George’s County. Mrs. Shumate holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication from James Madison University, and a Master of Science degree from Central Michigan University.

Ms. Shumate and her husband Chad are the proud parents of two children, and she is a member of the First Baptist Church of Glenarden.

CHRISTLE PERRY, Advisory Member

Christle Perry is a Senior Integrated Marketing Specialist with Radio One; with 12 years of tenure this Summer 2017. She has 25+ years of media marketing, employed with companies such as USA Today and Comcast Spotlight. Ms. Perry’s area of expertise focuses on networking and branding media solutions for churches, businesses and nonprofit organizations. She is also affiliated with Nubia Filmworks, a premier motion picture and television production company.

Ms. Perry holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mass Communications from Norfolk State University. She is a “Basketball Mom” who has traveled from state to state watching her son play the game of basketball and now she enjoys watching his college games. She is a member of Calvary Gospel Church in Waldorf, MD, and has 3 young adult children and 1 adorable grandson.
